Faculty of Practice or of Instruction - Concrete Industry Management
The Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University has an open Rank Non‑tenure line (NTL) vacancy for a Faculty of Practice or Faculty of Instruction appointment in the expanding Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program.
Core Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses relevant to concrete materials, construction industry, and related careers.
- Work with student organizations and/or mentor student competition teams.
- Travel with students to industry conferences locally, nationally, and internationally.
- Develop and maintain relationships with concrete industry companies.
- Participate in membership in industry associations that represent the concrete and construction industries.
- Participate in service activities in support of the university, the department, and the profession.
Teaching load of at least 12 credits per semester per area of expertise. Fulfill service and advising obligations each semester.
Required Qualifications For All Ranks- Bachelor’s degree in Concrete Industry Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills.
- At least five years of experience in the concrete or construction industry including plant management, operations management, project management and coordination, jobsite supervision/management, subcontracting, or other applicable experience.
- Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in professional practice or management.
- Engages in scholarship through professional presentations, publications, or similar contributions.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the concrete or construction industry including plant management, operations management, project management and coordination, jobsite supervision/management, subcontracting, or other applicable experience.
- Demonstrated leadership in relevant professional organizations.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the concrete or construction industry including plant management, operations management, project management and coordination, jobsite supervision/management, subcontracting, or other applicable experience.
- Documented recognition by peers for professional contributions to the field (e.g., awards).
- Demonstrated current and contemporary competence in teaching content area.
- Exhibits potential for continued professional growth in teaching and instructional activities.
- Documents more than five years of full‑time effective teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation.
- Exhibits potential for increased leadership in teaching and instructional activities (e.g., course coordination, teaching innovation, professional outreach, scholarly engagement).
- Requirements listed for Associate Professor of Instruction.
- Documents more than 10 years of full‑time effective and sustained teaching and learning contributions, including advances in curriculum, pedagogy, course delivery, or similar innovation.
- Documents recognition for leadership and contributions in teaching and instructional activities (e.g., awards, accreditation reviews, curriculum innovation, program coordination, scholarly contributions).
- Doctoral degree in Concrete Industry Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of five years of experience in the U.S. concrete materials or construction industry within the last eight years.
- Construction and/or concrete industry certifications (e.g., CPC, PMP, CCM, NRMCA Plant Manager Certification, NPCA Master Precaster, ASCC Concrete Formwork Specialist, or related).
- Higher education teaching experience as an instructor or guest lecturer.
- Knowledge and/or teaching abilities in two or more of the following areas:
