Position Overview
Assistant Professor “Applied Crop Science” position in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas State University. This full‑time, 9‑month faculty appointment begins in fall 2026.
Responsibilities- Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Crop Science/Horticulture; mentor and advise students, supervising M.S. research and serving on thesis committees; develop new courses and contribute to curriculum development.
- Research: Establish and maintain a strong, externally funded research program in production agriculture, addressing abiotic and biotic stress in food crop production; collaborate with faculty, industry, and external partners; disseminate results through peer‑reviewed publications and conferences.
- Service: Participate in service at departmental, college, and university levels, including committee work and student recruitment; engage in professional service within the Crop Science community; chair student‑oriented initiatives as appropriate.
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Physiology, Horticultural Science, Plant Breeding, or a closely related field.
- Proven ability as an effective instructor of record at undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Experience mentoring and advising students, including supervising M.S. research and serving on thesis committees.
- Potential to develop a strong, externally funded research program.
- Record of or potential for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- A track record of securing research funding.
- Previous research experience in abiotic and biotic stress of crop agriculture.
- Experience in curriculum development or new course development.
- Professional experience in crop science industry or related agricultural sectors (including outreach and international agriculture).
