Admissions Counselor
- Welcome Center

The purpose of this position is to recruit prospective students to Texas State through visits from high schools, two-year colleges, and counseling students, parents, and visiting guests.

Responsibilities include:

Extensive contact and collaboration with high school and community college students, high school counselors, college advisors, university alumni, and other community organizations. Assisting with university programming such as campus visit days (i.e., Bobcat Day, Academic Visit Days, etc.), bus trips, information sessions. Coordinate and manage group visits from high schools and community colleges, including scheduling, communication with school representatives, and collaboration with campus partners to facilitate visit logistics and programming.

Assisting with preparation of correspondence and statistical reports. Counseling prospective students, families, and visiting guests in the college selection process. Evaluating academic credentials. Assisting faculty and other departments in recruitment efforts. Other duties as assigned. Some weekend and/or evening work required. This position serves as an integral part of the undergraduate recruitment team and may require occasional travel.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience working with students from various backgrounds. Effective and accurate written communication skills. Attention to detail. Available to work evenings, weekends and travel overnight.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with family programming. Current or former Texas State University employee or alumnus. Two or more years of prior professional experience in college admissions. Bilingual Spanish speaking. Experience coordinating events, programs, or group visits. Experience presenting to large groups. Experience working independently with minimum supervision.
