- Experience independently researching materials to compile, develop and summarize for professional reports on a frequent or recurring basis.
- Experience analyzing information, identifying problems, defining alternatives, and developing recommendations for administrators.
- Experience interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records.
- Evidence of the ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Documented experience communicating orally and in writing with varied stakeholders.
- High School Diploma.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Documented experience working with NCAA regulations (Bylaw 14) related to athletic academic eligibility.
- Experience in evaluating and interpreting degree plans and curriculum, preferably utilizing Degree Works degree audit system.
- Experience working in the Banner Student Information System environment.
- Experience working with the NCAA Eligibility Center website and NCAA Academic Portal.
- Experience working with Teamworks.
- Knowledge of Texas State's undergraduate core curriculum and degree program requirements.
The Assistant NCAA Athletics Certification Officer is responsible for assisting the NCAA Athletics Certification Officer in obtaining, evaluating, and documenting the academic credentials in accordance with National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and conference eligibility rules for approximately 400student-athletes.
Job Duties- Eligibility Worksheets
- Update and monitor individual SA eligibility worksheets and team eligibility worksheets on a continuous basis. - Provide feedback and projections regarding NCAA eligibility to Athletics Academic Center in a timely manner.
- Certify Student-Athletes for Competition
- Review the academic credentials for each SA to determine eligibility status. - Assimilate and file appropriate documentation to support certification (i.e.NCAA SA Details Report, transcripts, degree audits, academic progress forms, etc.).
- Create EDF and submit to Athletics Compliance Office.
- Academic Pre-Evaluations
- Conduct an academic pre-evaluations for prospective student-athletes and provide accurate and timely feedback to the Athletics Compliance Office. - Academic Performance Program
- Assist the NCAA Certification Officer in updating Compliance Assistant 2.0 with pertinent information for the APP (including APR and GSR) each year. - Work cooperatively with Athletics Academic Center staff and the Athletics Compliance staff to ensure information is accurate.
- Provide feedback for any NCAA responses to information.
- Academic Progress Forms
- Create, distribute, review, compile and file the academic progress forms from the College Advising centers. - Follow up with each College Advising center in a timely manner for clarification when needed.
- Full-Time Enrollment Monitoring
- Oversee the monitoring of full-time enrollment of SAs, managers, male practice players and graduate assistants. - Other Assigned Duties
- Assist the NCAA Athletic Compliance Officer with general office organization and support. - Professionalism
- Appearance, attendance, punctuality, and office decorum met Registrar's office and University policies consistently.
