Required Qualifications:

Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• At least four years of experience in academic advising, student success, developmental education, higher education administration, or a related field.

• Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience administering Texas Success Initiative programs, developmental education, co-requisite education, or college-readiness initiatives.
• Experience advising or supporting students who are not college ready or who are enrolled in developmental education coursework.
• Experience interpreting and applying TSI
  -related state regulations, institutional policy, and academic procedures.
• Experience with student information systems, data reporting, student-record review, and academic-status processes.
• Experience developing and implementing student communications, orientation processes, outreach campaigns, or retention initiatives.
• Experience conducting program assessment and analyzing developmental education, persistence, retention, or graduation outcomes.
• Experience collaborating with academic advising units, faculty, academic departments, and student-support services.
• Experience supervising, training, or coordinating the work of professional staff.

academic processes, and student retention efforts.

Job Duties

Position Description

The Assistant Director of Texas Success Initiative ( TSI ) supports the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of Texas State University’s TSI efforts to promote student success. The position is responsible for supporting students who have not yet satisfied the State of Texas TSI Assessment requirements in mathematics, reading, and writing.

The Assistant Director coordinates TSI program services, academic processes, student communications, limited academic advising, and student retention efforts. The position works collaboratively with students, academic advisors, faculty, staff, and campus partners to ensure students understand TSI requirements, enroll in appropriate developmental education or co-requisite coursework, and make timely progress toward degree completion.

The Assistant Director administers compliance, technology, and academic processes necessary for effective TSI operations; provides guidance and expertise related to TSI and developmental education requirements; and serves as a liaison between the TSI Office and Texas State academic advising units.
