The Role

We are seeking a technically talented professional who can align internal teams with external forces. A great opportunity to grow with Thermon. You will collaborate as a key member of the team supporting our operations to meet challenging project budgets and schedule targets for manufacturing projects. The Manufacturing Engineer at Thermon is a self-starter who works toward implementing an overall strategic plan.

Performs engineering work related to designing and developing of equipment and processes to support the manufacturing of Thermon's products while supporting the lean initiatives of the organization.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities Include
  • Lead efforts to develop new process technology to support manufacturing of existing products and implement new product designs into production.
  • Be accountable for and own detailed execution processes behind manufacturing orders and projects with the support of the operations team.
  • Complete special projects, tasks and duties as assigned associated with product and equipment design and testing.
  • Present in weekly project performance reviews with the operations team, identifying risks and challenges to ensure accurate resource forecasting and customer satisfaction.
  • Own continuous‑improvement initiatives with teammates across operations to drive optimal organizational processes.
  • Prioritize work to meet required schedules and product release deadlines.
  • Support lean activities, including work towards six‑sigma initiatives.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and other required documentation.
  • Support daily production requirements, including processing deviation requests, engineering change requests to procedures and drawings, providing technical support to quoting and estimating, supporting codes and standards (e.g., API, NFPA), and improving production KPIs such as OTD, first‑pass yield, NCR pareto and shop efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to drafting on product and manufacturing routes, write and update manufacturing procedures, engineering procedures and installation instructions.
  • Support the Supply Chain Department in developing and training new and existing suppliers, designing tools, poka‑yokes and equipment, training production personnel on manufacturing processes, processing returned material requests and coordinating standard manufacturing processes with remote sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, based on workload and business needs.
Qualifications
  • Engineering degree with 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong project management experience with excellent time‑management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Lean manufacturing experience;
    Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Self‑motivated, willing to learn.
  • Expert level in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Extensive knowledge of production principles and techniques.
  • Proficient with computer‑aided drafting (CAD) software;
    Solid Works preferred.
  • Strong technical and analytical background; ERP system knowledge (AX Dynamics preferred).
  • Plastic extraction process industry experience is a plus.
Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable directing and evaluating tasks to support team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Practical knowledge and use of scheduling tools such as MS Project.
  • Experience in manufacturing, electrical or automation industry.
  • Experience with assembly and sheet metal operations.
  • Experience supporting a high‑mix, medium‑volume manufacturing or job‑shop organization.
  • Proficiency in presenting information to management and customers.
  • Drive to understand how things work.
