Overview
The Control Panels Designer will design control panels and control panel assemblies per customer specifications to ensure customer satisfaction, production efficiency, and Thermon profitability. Responsibilities include identifying design requirements from BOMs, descriptions, specifications, instructions, and Thermon quotations; preparing drawing packages—BOMs, layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and enclosure cutouts; and supporting Thermon Panel Shop staff in constructing the designs. Design work is performed using software such as AutoCAD and SEE Electrical and follows established guidelines and procedures.
The Designer will be based out of the Thermon office in San Marcos, Texas.
- Design small to medium projects or multiple small projects simultaneously
- Collaborate with other designers and Project Managers to generate drawing packages
- Collaborate with customer representatives on technical issues
- Create and review drawings using AutoCAD and other software
- Prepare and review drawings for accuracy
- Review drawings prepared by other designers
- Support production staff to ensure the physical product aligns with drawings
- Adhere to Thermon procedures and guides related to quality and project execution
- Computer literate with advanced MS Office skills
- Advanced CAD, technical writing, and communication skills
- Working technical knowledge of electricity, electrical schematics and control logic, electrical control systems and components, and three‑phase power distribution
- Working knowledge of codes and standards (NEC, CEC, UL 508A, etc.)
- Experience with standards related to hazardous locations (NFPA 496, UL 121201, CSA equivalents, etc.)
- Ability to work autonomously and drive results, be self‑driven and motivated
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Superior teamwork skills across a multi‑faced organization
- Minimum two years’ prior experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to interpret written or oral instructions and carry out assigned duties, seeking advice when needed
- Willingness to learn by asking questions, reading product literature, and viewing training aides
- Ability to generate new ideas, challenge the status quo, take risks, support change, encourage innovation, and solve problems creatively
- Enthusiasm and willingness to take on responsibility

- Team‑oriented and able to participate in a team culture
- Provide instruction and guidance to new and existing employees as needed
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred. A bachelor's degree in another technical field is considered with industry experience.
