Overview
Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures, provide support for other imaging technologists as needed, and help facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. The technologist may work different shifts and/or at other campuses as needed. The technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system.
Expect ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure. The technologist will adhere to and maintain the imaging competencies outlined by management. Observe radiation, personnel, and patient safety measures. Maintain radiation safety protocol while handling radionuclides and pharmaceuticals used in the department. Complete daily logs and periodic tests as required by the license. Behavior and communication skills must align with the organization s mission, values, and culture.

- Adapts patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate unique needs of each patient served (physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, etc.).
- Ensures compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards of care as required by State and Federal agencies, the hospital, and other regulatory entities.
- Performs examinations/procedures as needed to assist in patient throughput within the scope of the Manager s license(s), certification(s), and/or documented competencies.
- Demonstrates flexibility by working other shifts and at other campuses as needed or required.
- Ensures completed exams are scanned and stored correctly in PACS.
- Follows PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalates issues to the PACS administrator or designee as needed.
- Troubleshoots and reports equipment malfunctions to the Director/Manager and/or Biomedical personnel; follows up appropriately.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology or other accepted and approved equivalent required.
- 1 year of experience in a clinical nuclear medicine setting preferred.
- Basic computer experience required.
- Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) by ARRT or NMTCB required.
- State licensure required.
- Texas: MRT by TMB;
Louisiana: LRT (N) or (F) by LSRTBE;
New Mexico: NMT by MIRTP NMED. - BLS required.
