San Marcos Treatment Center is seeking a talented and dynamic National Business Development Representative (CA) to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals.
Travel is required in this position. Ideal candidates will be based in or around the San Francisco Bay Area or the South San Diego region. In addition to primary coverage within California, this role will also support outreach efforts in AK, HI, and other states as assigned in the Western region.
Travel Expectation: 95%+
Position SummaryOur National Business Development Representative acts as a liaison between the facility and referral sources and implements service‑oriented action plans responsive to referral source needs. The role serves as a resource and representative to the community, traveling to assigned territories based on strategic planning. The representative plans scheduled trips in advance with pre‑arranged quality appointments with various referral sources and presents a positive and professional public image of the facility within the community.
The position includes weekly travel within the assigned territory.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Military experience also preferred.
Experience: Three years minimum documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships preferred. Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Valid Driver’s License
Skills & Knowledge: Good verbal and written communication skills. Prefer knowledge of the behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, target markets and referral sources, psychiatric treatment and age‑specific programming. Must possess demonstrated business development concepts, sales abilities, competency in computer usage, and excellent written and oral communication skills; knowledge of and skills in application of marketing and sales principles; creativity and flexibility;
skills in data collection analysis and interpretation; record of adherence to deadlines; customer service skills; willingness to travel, including overnight travel as required.
