- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, public administration, criminal justice, or a related field
- Experience coordinating programs, operations, or cross-functional initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive situations with sound judgment and discretion
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required, including on-call responsibilities during high-visibility events or urgent situations
- Knowledge of freedom of expression/speech laws and policies, particularly as applicable to public college campuses
- Strong facilitation, documentation, and report-writing skills
- Sound judgment under pressure with a focus on de-escalation and operational consistency
- Experience supporting expressive activity, demonstrations, or large-scale event response
- Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, criminal justice, or related field
- Experience conducting student conduct investigations and/or adjudication
- Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, including law enforcement and compliance units
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Success and Dean of Students, the Campus Expression & Community Standards Coordinator provides primary operational coordination for the university’s expressive activity monitoring and response program, including both administrative operations and real-time campus response. The position coordinates expressive activity readiness and response protocols; event monitoring and documentation; deployment and coordination of campus responders; communication with campus partners;
tracking and maintaining records; and post-event follow-up. The position works closely with the Dean of Students Office, University Police Department (UPD), Environmental, Health, Safety, Risk and Emergency Management (EHSREM), and other university partners to support consistent, coordinated, and compliant responses that protect free expression while promoting campus safety and adherence to university policy.
The Campus Expression & Community Standards Coordinator also supports large-event student behavior monitoring and response, divisional compliance tracking and reporting, and Student Conduct and Community Standards. This position serves as an investigator for complex student conduct cases and provides additional investigative support as needed. Across these responsibilities, the position supports effective coordination, accurate documentation and reporting, student accountability, and institutional compliance.
- Coordinate the administrative and real-time operations of the university’s Expressive Activity Monitoring and Response Program, ensuring consistent implementation of university policies, procedures, and response protocols.
- Coordinate the Expressive Activity Response Team (EART), including responder recruitment and training, on-call schedules, activation and notification protocols, deployment, documentation, and after-action processes.
