About this roleThe Manufacturing Project Manager (PMP) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing manufacturing‑focused projects from initiation through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting safety, quality, and operational requirements. The Project Manager works cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Quality, EHS, IT, and external vendors to support continuous improvement and operational excellence. This position is well‑suited for a hands‑on project leader with strong manufacturing experience and formal project management discipline.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Project Planning & Execution
• Leading manufacturing projects, including equipment installs, process improvements, automation initiatives, facility upgrades, and system implementations.
• Developing detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Managing project scope, risks, issues, and change control.
• Ensuring projects meet defined objectives for safety, quality, cost, and delivery. - Cross‑Functional Coordination
• Partnering with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, IT, and Supply Chain to execute projects effectively.
• Facilitating project meetings, status updates, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinating internal resources and external contractors, vendors, and integrators. - Manufacturing & Operational Focus
• Ensuring projects align with production requirements and minimizing operational disruption.
• Supporting validation, commissioning, and handoff to operations.
• Ensuring proper documentation, training, and standard work are completed before project closeout. - Risk, Safety & Compliance
• Identifying and mitigating project risks early.
• Ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Supporting audits and inspections related to project work. - Financial & Performance Management
• Tracking project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures.
• Monitoring project performance using KPIs and earned value metrics as appropriate.
• Providing clear, timely reporting to leadership.
- Possesses an active PMP certification and is in good standing.
- Has 5–10+ years of project management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Can display a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and operational constraints; experience managing capital projects and automation initiatives.
- Is familiar with ERP or manufacturing systems implementations.
- Can demonstrate a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Holds a strong understanding of project management tools (MS Project, , Smartsheet, etc.).
- Can display excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
- Is comfortable managing complex cross‑departmental initiatives.
- Has Lean/Six Sigma training or certification.
- Is able to utilize their experience working in manufacturing and engineering.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 15 pounds at times.
