Tool Room Machinist or Precision Grinding specialist to set up precision grinding equipment for production runs. Responsibilities include setting up and running or supervising production-style runs on surface grinders, double-disc grinders, centerless grinders, Blanchard grinders, and related equipment. May need to design and fabricate custom fixtures for different production parts in cooperation with other tool room machinists and the engineering department.
Responsibilities- Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings.
- Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances.
- Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts.
- Setting up machine tools such as surface grinders, double-disc grinders, centerless grinders, and Blanchard grinders.
- Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions.
- Inspecting finished parts according to blueprint specifications.
- 20 years experience working as a tool room machinist.
- In-depth knowledge of machine tools and their uses.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design schematics.
- Extensive experience with surface grinders, double-disc grinders, centerless grinders, and Blanchard grinders.
- Comfortable working with tolerances in the +/- .0002 range on precision grinding equipment.
- Receptive to learning new machinery and techniques.
- Experience with wire EDMs, hole poppers, Mazak and Mazatrol programming, and Solid Works.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening, medical physical, and visual testing if applicable.
- Able to move up to 50 lbs.
- Possesses manual dexterity to assemble parts quickly and accurately.
- Can wear PPE.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
- Can perform repetitive movements including sitting, squatting and walking up and down stairs.
