Responsibilities
San Marcos Treatment Center, a 212‑bed, seclusion‑free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in the heart of Central Texas! San Marcos spreads across 65 acres with an abundance of trees and wildlife. We have 13 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development levels with two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, sports court, playing fields, ropes course, canteen, social area, and a healing trail.
We provide 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs that teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions, and improve social functioning.
We are looking for full‑time RNs to work weekends with our adolescent population. Weekend shifts are Saturday and Sunday from 6 AM to 10 PM.
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the RN provides physical assessments, implements treatment plans, evaluates response to treatment, documents care, administers medications, and offers health‑care education for patients and families. The RN is shift supervisor of the Mental Health Techs and LVN staff, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include direct patient care and management of children, adolescent, and young adult patients as prescribed by the physician and treatment team;
assuring safety, supervision, and crisis management; providing assessment and medical management; and assisting in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

- Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. One year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current Texas professional Nurse License and current driver licence.
- Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality; demonstrates effective organization; develops and implements patient care services within discipline; consistently exhibits mental ability to understand and perform essential functions; initiates and implements all phases of the nursing process; provides safe nursing care; understands patient rights; basic supervisory skills.
