Position

Registered Nurse – Post Surgical PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital – San Marcos, TX.

• Provide routine and complex nursing care in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation).
• Assess and address patients’ and families’ psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs within the scope of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care delivered.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Identify issues and resources to support patient care and recovery.
• Lead, delegate, and manage care from other providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• Minimum one year of experience in a related nursing specialty (preferred).
• Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment or a state compact.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Care (ENPC) certification required.

• All newly hired RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days.
• New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member.
• On‑boarding requirements are validated by completing the designated organizational entry competency validation and a Perioperative Department‑specific competency validation.
• All annual competency verification requirements must be completed.
• Perioperative RN residency or recent practice in an OR/Perioperative setting preferred.

• Basic Life Support (BLS):
  No grace period – AHA or Red Cross accepted at time of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS):
  Within 30 days of hire.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS):
  Within 30 days of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC):
  Within 60 days of hire.
• Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR):
  Within 60 days of hire.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP):
  Within 30 days of hire.
• AWHONN Intermediate FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring):
  Within 30 days of hire.
• STABLE (Neonatal Education):
  Within 30 days of hire.
