Responsibilities

San Marcos Treatment Center is a 212‑bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located between Austin and San Antonio in Central Texas. The campus spans 65 acres with trees, wildlife, 13 living units, 2 swimming pools, 2 gymnasiums, a sports court, playing fields, a ropes course, a canteen, a social area, and a healing trail. We provide 24‑hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 6 to 17 with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs that teach patients to moderate behavior, manage emotions, and improve social functioning.

We are looking for full‑time RNs to work overnight with our adolescent population. Overnight shifts are 10 PM to 6 AM.

As an RN under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, you will provide physical assessments, implement treatment plans, evaluate response to treatment, complete documentation, administer medications, provide health‑care education to patients and families, and serve as shift supervisor of Mental Health Technicians and LVN staff. You will ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients, provide direct patient care and management for children, adolescents, and young adults, assure safety and crisis management, and assist in the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. One year psychiatric/neuropsychiatric experience with adolescents and/or young adults in a long‑term hospital or residential setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current Texas professional nurse license and current driver license.

Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality of patient and employee information; demonstrates effective organization; develops and implements patient care services within discipline; consistently exhibits mental ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job; ability to initiate and implement all phases of the nursing process; ability to provide safe nursing care; understanding patient rights;

basic supervisory skills.
