RN, Registered Nurse - Emergency Room – Christus Health, San Marcos, TX.

Summary:

The RN will practice independently and provide routine and complex care in an emergency setting, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of the situation, managing clinical contingencies, delegating duties, and documenting patient history, medication, and care given.

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols, monitoring for side‑effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers; identify issues and resources.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty (preferred).
• BLS required.
• RN license in state of employment or compact.
• ACLS certification required.
• PALS certification required.
• TNCC certification required.

• Newly hired RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
• All new hires will be precepted by a trained staff member and must complete the designated organizational entry competency validation and an Emergency Department‑specific competency validation.
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other orientation as required.
• Certain essential credentials must be obtained within designated time frames: ACLS within 30 days of hire, PALS within 30 days, and TNCC within 60 days.

• 6:00PM – 6:00AM, 12‑hour shift, full time.
