Grant Specialist

Collect, sort, , and curate hyporheic invertebrates, and take a leading role in the entry, curation, analysis, and interpretation of resulting data. Perform QA/QC on samples sorted by others and the resulting data, update and write SOPs, and work closely with internal and external collaborators.

Collect, sort, , and curate invertebrates, and assist in the analysis and interpretation of resulting data, including working with internal and external collaborators. Drafting reports in collaboration with grant directors and others, and presenting information to funders, scientific audiences, and the public. Field work – working in the field as-needed. Leadership – supervising undergraduate students.

Some longer hours during field work and some weekends during field work.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position. BS in Biology or related natural resources or science discipline. Proven experience sampling and working on hyporheic zone research. Proven experience using microscopes to sort bulk samples and identify aquatic invertebrates, including fauna found in Texas hyporheic zones.

Preferred Qualifications - MS in Biology or related natural resources or science discipline. Experience using reference books, taxonomic literature, and dichotomous keys to . Experience using MS Excel, Word. Familiarization with Adobe Suite. Experience with basic GIS. Experience with R Studio. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent time management skills. Familiar with basic statistical analyses. Able to work well as a member of a large research team.

Ability to work alone with minimal supervision after training for the job.
