Position: Assistant Showroom Manager (Full time) - Tanger Outlet San Marcos

Job Summary

As an Assistant Showroom Manager, you will support the Showroom Manager in driving sales, delivering outstanding customer experiences, and helping the store achieve its performance goals. This role emphasizes talent development and coaching of team members. As one of the top sellers, you will lead by example, providing guidance and support to associates in the sales process. You will also assist with opening and closing the store and take on additional supervisory duties as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Drive Sales & KPIs:
    Make strategic and operational decisions that align with Purple’s values to support sales and results through sales strategies.
  • Establish and monitor clear goals, consistently track store performance, and hold the team accountable for personal sales performance and productivity.
  • Take ownership of personal sales and performance results while supporting store performance by generating sales that meet company metrics.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Support team talent development by coaching, modeling, and delivering selling behavior that aligns with company strategy.
  • Uphold Visual and Operational Standards:
    Adhere to all Purple retail policies, including safety and operational standards, and prepare and set up visual marketing displays and promotional materials.
  • Assist the Showroom Manager in creating a customer‑centric and solution‑oriented environment.
  • Learn and communicate product knowledge to match customer needs and exemplify company values (safety, community, communication, development, accountability, and innovation).
Required Skills, Education & Experience
  • Minimum of a high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a retail environment, ideally in a supervisory role.
  • Comfortable learning and adapting to new technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage time effectively, and remain productive.
  • Desire to grow in leadership, management, team building, and problem solving.
  • Understanding of basic business management functions.
  • Enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and proven competencies in effective communication and management.
  • Willingness to learn and tackle new challenges.
Physical Requirements
  • Occasional activities: ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps; moving in different positions; communicating with others.
  • Constant activities: remaining in a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods; moving, reaching, or bending repeatedly; adjusting or moving objects up to 50pounds; operating power tools; lifting up to 200pounds via team lift or equipment.
  • Mobile between work sites while performing tasks.
  • Must be able to lift, move, and operate according to the job’s demands.
  • Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
Work Hours

This full‑time position is expected to work approximately 30–40 hours per week. Actual hours may vary based on business needs.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $23.50. Eligible for monthly commissions on qualifying mattress sales per the commission agreement terms and conditions.
