Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Job Description Advance Trac Equipment is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our service team. We support a diverse fleet of heavy construction equipment, including Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi, Volvo, and other major manufacturers.

This is a hands-on role for someone who knows how to troubleshoot equipment, solve problems in the field, and get machines back to work. Our technicians perform everything from preventive maintenance and routine repairs to complex diesel, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics. Much of the work is performed in the field at customer job sites and equipment locations throughout Central Texas, so we're looking for someone who can work independently, communicate well, and take ownership of the equipment they're responsible for.

• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational issues on heavy construction equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services to keep equipment reliable and productive.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, hoses, and related components.
• Perform electrical diagnostics using manufacturer software, meters, schematics, and other diagnostic tools.
• Replace worn or damaged components and perform welding or fabrication when needed.
• Perform field repairs at jobsites and equipment locations throughout the local market.
• Use manufacturer diagnostic and service platforms to troubleshoot and complete repairs.
• Accurately document inspections, repairs, parts, and maintenance performed.
• Maintain a clean, organized service truck and work environment.
• Work safely and professionally around customers, jobsites, and other Advance Trac employees.

• 2+ years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy construction equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Ability to diagnose problems rather than simply replace parts.
• Experience using diagnostic software and manufacturer service tools.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work independently and manage field-service responsibilities.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude around customers.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
