PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Transportation Manager is responsible for leading all transportation operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective movement of goods and personnel. This includes managing the company’s fleet, coordinating with drivers and vendors, and supporting logistics to meet daily delivery schedules. The Transportation Manager will be expected to travel periodically to client sites and future Cooperative Laundry locations.

This role requires a highly organized and strategic thinker with strong leadership capabilities, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of transportation regulations and logistics. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations Management to oversee fleet maintenance, route optimization, compliance, and driver performance, ensuring consistent delivery service and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee all day‑to‑day transportation activities, ensuring on‑time delivery, vehicle readiness, and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and manage efficient routing and dispatching practices to maximize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Lead and supervise drivers, and transportation staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with operations, customer service, and external vendors to maintain high levels of service quality.
  • Manage and monitor fuel usage, vehicle maintenance, DOT compliance, and accident investigations.
  • Prepare and analyze transportation and fleet reports to identify trends, reduce inefficiencies, and improve KPIs.
  • Design and implement transportation policies and procedures to ensure safety, compliance, and consistent service levels.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver qualifications, vehicle registrations, inspections, and incident reports.
  • Monitor third‑party transportation providers for performance, cost‑efficiency, and contract compliance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and training programs for all transportation personnel.
  • Participate in strategic planning for transportation scalability as the company expands.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in transportation or fleet management is required; experience in the Central Texas region is a plus.
  • Demonstrated employment stability and a consistent track record of performance in similar roles.
  • Strong professional references that validate experience in managing transportation operations, compliance, and team leadership.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA rules, and other transportation compliance standards.
  • Proficient in route planning, dispatch systems, and transportation management software (TMS).
  • Strong leadership, team‑building, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on logistics efficiency and cost control.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience with KPI reporting and transportation metrics is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Must be available for rotating shifts, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Occasional domestic travel required for site visits, training, and future expansion projects.
  • Workstations are climate‑controlled; however, site visits may involve exposure to outdoor elements.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic, high‑paced operational environment is essential.
