What the role actually is
Skydio is hiring a staff product manager to own telecommunications strategy for its drone platform. The role connects carrier partnerships, regulatory priorities, in-flight data access, business models, and the customer experience of getting a drone connected from first boot.
This is product management for the invisible infrastructure that decides whether autonomous drones can actually operate reliably during real public-safety and commercial missions.
What you would work on- Build Skydio's strategy for telecom-carrier partnerships in the United States and beyond
- Turn customer connectivity needs into simple product options and sustainable business models
- Set regulatory and carrier-certification priorities for drone connectivity
- Monitor usage and costs to validate the economics of in-flight data access
- Connect telecom partners with Skydio's field teams for major events and urgent incidents
- Staff-level product judgment for complex customer, partner, or infrastructure products
- Experience translating customer needs into priorities and shipped implementation
- Ability to build products, partnerships, or business relationships from ambiguous starting points
- Comfort working across field teams, carriers, regulators, and internal product groups
- Strong communication with both technical and commercial stakeholders
Connectivity is easy to ignore until a drone needs to stream data during a crowded event or emergency response. This role is interesting because it treats telecom not as procurement, but as a product surface that shapes whether Skydio's autonomous systems are usable in the field.
