The Simulation Educator supports simulation-based learning (SBL) and immersive education modalities on the San Mateo campus. This role partners with faculty to design, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve simulation curricula while promoting best practices in healthcare simulation education.
Simulation Education & Faculty Support- Ensure evidence-based best practices in simulation-based learning.
- Partner with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate SBL activities and curricula.
- Mentor and coach faculty on simulation delivery and reflective debriefing practices.
- Support interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives across programs.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Technology Specialist (STS) to coordinate technical setup and delivery.
- Utilize simulation management systems (e.g., EMS AV and database systems).
- Develop and apply assessment tools to evaluate learner competency.
- Review simulation learning objectives to ensure alignment with course, program, and institutional outcomes.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement of simulation services and curricula.
- Provide training and development options related to SBL and immersive learning.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in simulation design, delivery, and debriefing best practices.
- Promote innovation in simulation and immersive learning strategies.
- Stay current on trends in healthcare simulation education.
- Participate in and support scholarly activities, research initiatives, and dissemination of findings.
- Utilize TeamSTEPPS™ tools to enhance teamwork and communication.
- Participate in community outreach and educational programming.
- Bachelor’s degree in a health profession, education, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in simulation-based teaching and learning
- Strong collaboration, communication, and adaptability skills
- Master’s degree in a health profession, education, or simulation
- Registered Nurse license (active or compact preferred)
- Experience with simulation hardware and software systems
