Scherzo Music School, established in 2000, is a year-round music education center located in San Mateo, CA, serving the greater San Francisco Peninsula and Bay Area. The school offers personalized lessons in a wide variety of instruments, including voice, catering to students of all ages and skill levels. With a focus on creating a solid musical foundation in a fun and challenging environment, Scherzo provides one-on-one lessons, group classes for young learners, and online or long-distance instruction.

Role Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Voice Teacher to join the Scherzo Music School team. This is a part-time on-site role based in San Mateo, CA. The Voice Teacher will provide one-on-one voice lessons to students of various ages and skill levels, tailoring instruction to meet individual needs and goals. Responsibilities include teaching vocal techniques, music theory, and performance preparation, as well as supporting students in vocal refinement and confidence-building.

The role also involves preparing students for recitals, auditions, and standardized music exams.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Vocal Instruction, Vocal Coaching, and Voice Lessons
  • Strong foundation in Music Theory and Music Education
  • Experience developing tailored instructional plans to meet diverse student needs
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Familiarity with preparation for music recitals, competitions, and standardized exams such as ABRSM, CAPMT, or CM
  • Degree in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or a related field (preferred)
  • Previous teaching experience is highly desirable
