Placement on the adjunct faculty salary schedule is based upon education and credited experience. Initial placement can range from $60.01 to $75.10 per hour (Salary Schedule AJ

The Opportunity
The Librarian provides reference service and instruction on the use of print and electronic information resources to students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Librarian may also be assigned to perform or participate in the following:

Collection developmentImplementation of print and electronic information resources and servicesLibrary research orientationsDevelopment and instruction of credit classes in Library Studies and information competencyActivities designed to promote library Services to students, faculty, and staffCollaborate with other college faculty in developing information competency components within their disciplinesParticipate in the development and maintenance of the library webpageCreate instructional support materials in print and online formatsCatalog library materials, using OCLCTrain and supervise library technicians in cataloging and technical processingComputer programming to support library servicesPerform other duties as required by contract and general institutional needsOrganize and manage archivesParticipate in the development and delivery of public program eventsParticipate in the design and delivery of library services to on-campus and remote users and online studentsEmployment Standards (acquired through education, training, and/or experience)
Knowledge of:
Print and electronic information resources and servicesThe development of and proficiency with print and web-based instructional materials for credit and/or no-credit courses, orientation sessions, workshops, tutorials, and information pathfindersCollection developmentSkills and AbilitiesProvide reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff in a technologically advanced library environmentTeach in traditional and distance education environmentsWork sensitively and effectively with students, faculty, and staff in a team-based environment as well as independentlyCatalog using OCLC for original and copy catalogingFacilitate the development of library materials and services with the participation of facultyOrganize and manage archival collectionsProvide effective and user-friendly access services for on-campus and online studentsSkill in respectful, tactful, and sensitive interaction with people who are diverse in their academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgroundsEffective verbal and written communicationJob Requirements
- Master's or higher in library science, library and information science OR the equivalent (see below)
- Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, ethnic, neurodivergent, and LGBTQIA+ backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice both within and outside of the classroom.
