EXPERIENCE:

Community Education teachers are not required to have California teaching credentials, but must have expertise in the subject matter being taught. Experience in the proposed subject of the class is required and should be equal to a minimum of 3-5 years. Experience in teaching is helpful especially with adults or senior citizens but not required. A teaching credential is not mandatory but the ability to pass district background and onboarding is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop clear lesson plans and learning objectives aligned to course goals Deliver engaging, learner-centered instruction that supports adult learning outcomes Create an inclusive classroom environment that fosters community, curiosity, and mutual respect Adapt instruction to accommodate diverse skill levels, backgrounds, and learning needs Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback Maintain accurate records related to attendance and course participation Communicate promptly with students regarding absences, schedule changes, room/location updates, or other course logistics Prepare and organize instructional materials and resources appropriate to the course topic Uphold professional standards and support a positive, respectful learning culture.
