Validation Engineer
LOCATION:
Foster City, CA (Onsite)
PAY RANGE: $63 - $73/hr.
DURATION: 6 Months
TOP 3 SKILLS:
- 3-6 years of test or validation experience in automotive ECUs, mechatronics, or lighting
- Knowledge of PCBA failure modes, circuits design (DC/DC converters, drivers, I2C), and LIN, Ethernet, and Bluetooth communication
- Experience with requirements management tools, lab and measurement equipment (DAQ, power supply/E-load, oscilloscope, accelerometers, thermocouples, CAN, LIN, automotive Ethernet), and project management tools like JIRA using Kanban methodology
The Component and Subsystem Hardware Validation team is responsible for ensuring components and subsystems on the robotaxi meet all functional and reliability targets needed to facilitate our autonomous mobility service. As a Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and executing a robust and rigorous validation process from requirements development through report approval. This will include managing internal and external testing resources as well as supplier-led validation activities which ensure durability, reliability, and safety targets are satisfied. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand root causes of failures, identify mitigation strategies, and incorporate learnings into new designs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, manage, and execute test plans to validate mechanical, electrical, and environmental failure modes
- Collaborate with design engineers to ensure that requirements are clearly defined and captured within the validation plan
- Identify appropriate test assets, data acquisition systems, and sensors to ensure high-quality test data
- Analyze test data to provide clear and concise reporting of test results
- Support DFMEA activities to gain confidence that all potential failure modes are adequately covered within the validation plan
- BS or MS in mechanical engineering, or related relevant field
- 3-6 years of test or validation experience related to one of the following: automotive ECU s, mechatronics, or lighting
- PCBA failure modes
- Circuits design (DC/DC Converters, Drivers, I2C)
- LIN Communication
- Ethernet Communication
- Bluetooth Communication
- Experience with requirements management tools (Polarion or equivalent)
- Experience with a wide variety of lab and measurement equipment including but not limited to: DAQ, Power supply / E-load, Oscilloscope, Accelerometers, Thermocouples, CAN, LIN, and automotive ethernet
- Experience with Project Management tools such as JIRA and Kanban methodology
- Familiarity with 3D design tools: CATIA 3DX or CATIA V5 or Solid Works preferred
- EMI / EMC validation experience
- Familiarity with IEC 60068, GMW 3172, IEEE 802.3, USCAR, AEC & IPC standards
- Familiarity with Vector tools (CANalyzer or similar)
