- Multi-Program Architectural Leadership:
Serve as the primary dimensional authority for sensor integration across parallel vehicle platforms, managing massive architectural workloads concurrently. - Datum and Tolerance Strategy:
Define vehicle build requirements, establish robust datum schemes, sensor mounting locator strategies, and tolerance allocations to guarantee rock-solid sensor-to-body and sensor-to-sensor co-calibration stability. - Metrology and Fixture Innovation:
Define comprehensive measurement strategies from single components to full vehicle assembly; review and formally approve internal and supplier metrology fixture concepts. - Cross-Functional Design Feedback:
Provide active architectural loop feedback regarding layout changes needed to ensure vehicle body structures and sensor brackets are reliably manufacturable and assemblable. - Supplier Capability and PPAP:
Partner directly with Supplier Quality (SQ) teams to evaluate supplier capability, establish dimensional acceptance criteria, and resolve engineering escalations to protect program milestones.
- Industry
Experience:
8 to 10 years of dedicated experience in dimensional management, variation simulation, or metrology within the automotive, aerospace, or autonomous robotics sectors. - AV Sensor Mastery:
Deep technical understanding of the unique dimensional, structural, and alignment requirements for AV sensor suites (LiDAR, Radar, Cameras). - Advanced Variation and GD and T:
Expertise in performing both 1D and 3D Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA) stack-ups, alongside advanced-level proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD and T principles. - CAD and 3DX Proficiency:
Hands-on experience using CATIA V6 and 3
DEXPERIENCE (3DX) to visualize, manipulate, and interrogate 3D models, create reference geometry, and map critical functional datums. - Statistical Rigor:
Strong background in Variation Simulation Analysis tools, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gauge R and R studies, and process capability metrics (Cp, Cpk). - Education:
Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Fixture Design Engineering, or a closely related field.
