Company is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Mechanical Engineer
- Serviceability (Contract role) to drive Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives across next-generation autonomous vehicles. In this role, you'll evaluate product designs for serviceability throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring components are accessible, maintainable, and efficient to repair. You'll partner with cross-functional teams to improve repairability, reduce service costs, develop service tooling, and influence product designs that support long-term service readiness. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering background, experience designing products for manufacturability and serviceability, and enjoys collaborating across engineering disciplines to improve product reliability and the overall service experience.
As a Mechanical Engineer
- Serviceability, you'll:
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive Design for Serviceability (DFS) initiatives throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Evaluate part and assembly designs for hand clearance, tooling access, ergonomics, serviceability, and component replacement feasibility from concept through production.
- Develop service part release strategies and maintain the service bill of materials (BOM) to support spare parts planning.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems with serviceability in mind.
- Work closely with manufacturing engineers to support new product builds and design improvements.
- Identify opportunities for specialized service tooling and guide the design and development of custom tools.
- Contribute to product requirements related to serviceability, reliability, and product availability.
- Develop cost and time analyses to identify opportunities to reduce repair complexity, service time, and maintenance costs.
- Partner with technical writers to develop repair procedures and service documentation.
- Collaborate with field service teams to evaluate products in real-world environments and incorporate feedback into future design improvements.
Ideal candidate profile:
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering 4-6 years of engineering experience Demonstrated successful experience in mechanical engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment. Experience designing and developing products through the lifecycle. Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes. Experience with product and process validation. Tooling and/or equipment design experience. Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills. Strong 3D CAD experience, CATIA a plus Ability to work autonomously to manage projects Bonus:

Company is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to drive the Design for Serviceability (DFS). In this role, you will perform evaluations of form, fit, function, access, and analysis of our products. You will present comprehensive reports, findings, and opportunities to reduce cost, time, and motion. You will collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, and Prototyping to advocate for core initiatives that support the Service optimization of our products.
You will spend time with the field team evaluating the products and identify changes that will improve the overall Serviceability and Maintainability of our products. Through feedback from the field team, you will identify, design, and provide the tooling that is required to service the products.
Required skills:
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability). Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components. Develop service part release strategy and maintain the Service BOM for spare parts planning. Work closely with engineering teams to integrate components and electromechanical systems. Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the build of new product iterations.
