Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Head of Finance and Facilities Operations for a well-established, mission-driven educational institution located on the San Francisco Peninsula. This is a full-time, temp-to-hire, onsite opportunity offering a competitive pay rate of $75–$85 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
POSITION OVERVIEWThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance and operations leader to play an integral role in the financial health and operational success of a respected educational organization. Reporting to senior leadership, the Head of Finance and Facilities Operations will oversee the organization’s finance, accounting, business operations, facilities, financial aid, risk management, and related administrative functions. This leader will balance strategic financial planning with hands‑on operational oversight while partnering closely with executive leadership and the Board to ensure strong fiscal stewardship, effective operations, and long‑term organizational sustainability.
The ideal candidate brings strong financial leadership experience along with the ability to oversee broader business and facilities operations. This role is well suited for a collaborative, solutions‑oriented leader who is comfortable moving between long-range planning and the day‑to‑day financial and operational needs of a complex organization.

- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, investments, financial reporting, and long‑term financial modeling.
- Oversee accounting operations, annual audits, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and financial policies and procedures.
- Partner with executive leadership and the Board to provide financial analysis, projections, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
- Provide leadership across facilities, capital projects, deferred maintenance planning, vendor relationships, insurance, contracts, and organizational risk management.
- Oversee key business office functions, including payroll support, tuition planning, financial aid, student accounts, receivables, and related financial operations.
- Lead and support finance, accounting, financial aid, facilities, and business office staff while strengthening systems and processes across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible finance and operations leadership experience, preferably within a nonprofit or educational environment.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, internal controls, audits, facilities management, and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience developing financial strategies and presenting financial information to executive leadership, Finance Committees, and/or Boards.
- Experience leading teams and overseeing multiple financial and operational functions within a complex organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and cloud‑based financial systems; experience with Sage Intacct, Paylocity, and tuition management systems preferred.
