As a Forward Deployed Engineer
, you will bridge the gap between core product development, site reliability, and enterprise customer support for ROBIN (a Rakuten Symphony company) Unlike traditional operational support roles, this is a highly technical developer‑SRE hybrid position. You will be an active member of the development cycle—writing, contributing, and shipping production code directly to our core product stack and also handle customer escalations.
You will use your deep systems engineering expertise to design carrier‑grade cloud‑native orchestration tools while simultaneously managing complex production escalations directly with global telecom partners.
- Programming Skills Advanced proficiency in C (or C++), Go and Python for low-level systems automation, feature development, and mainstream product contributions.
- Linux & Kernel :
Expert Linux system administration background with hands‑on experience in kernel‑level troubleshooting, tracing, and advanced performance tuning. - Storage Expertise :
Deep, practical understanding of Software‑Defined Storage (SDS) across block, file, and object storage technologies. Robust knowledge of low‑level data paths, including Direct Attached Storage (DAS) and the Linux SCSI subsystem layer. Hands‑on experience optimizing and troubleshooting network storage fabrics, file‑level data access via Network File Systems (NFS), and block/object storage structures - Kubernetes Mastery :
In‑depth knowledge of the Kubernetes stack, distributed system paradigms, containerization ecosystems, and public cloud architectures (specifically working with CSI, CRI, and CNI layers).
- Writing production code in Go, Python, and C to develop new features, licensing tools, and automation frameworks for the core platform.
- Design and develop core components of the orchestration and storage stack. Analyze within Kubernetes CSI, CRI, and CNI layers. Deep understanding of Distributed systems.
- Rapidly resolve critical customer escalations, providing low‑level workarounds, code modifications, and thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Code, architect, and manage Software‑Defined Storage (SDS) frameworks. Optimize block, file, and object storage infrastructures for production‑grade telco applications.
- Deploying new customer environments, managing existing customer upgrades, and actively developing/testing robust upgrade procedures.
