Branch Manager - Retail Banking

As a Branch Manager for our San Mateo branch, you will lead the overall success of a full-service retail location. You will oversee daily operations, deliver exceptional customer service, drive deposit and revenue growth, and ensure a safe, secure, and compliant banking environment. This is a hands‑on, in‑office leadership role with significant visibility and impact within the San Mateo and Peninsula community.

• Team Development: Hire, develop, and coach a high‑performing branch team to meet the needs of the San Mateo market.
• Coaching: Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings to review performance, identify development needs, and support career goals.
• Performance Management: Ensure all team members are fully trained in sales, service, and operational procedures; address performance issues following bank policies.

• Compliance: Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency and 100% compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Financial Oversight: Communicate branch goals related to profitability and cost control; monitor expenses to ensure budget adherence.
• Risk Control: Partner with the Branch Operations Officer to complete monthly certification packages; approve large transactions and enforce security protocols.

• Service Excellence: Champion superior customer service through team huddles and proactive coaching to meet mystery shop goals.
• Conflict Resolution: Proactively resolve complex business and consumer account situations with diplomacy and a "client‑first" mindset.

• Growth Strategy: Develop and execute branch sales strategies aligned with goals for the San Mateo and Silicon Valley region.
• Networking: Lead outbound calling, in‑person meetings, and business networking to drive new customer acquisition.
• Collaboration: Partner with regional leadership on marketing initiatives and refer small business credit opportunities to the loan department.

• CRA Advocacy: Actively promote Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) policies and programs.
• Local Engagement: Represent the bank in San Mateo professional and civic organizations (e.g., Chamber of Commerce).
• Volunteering: Complete a minimum of 10 compensable CRA volunteer hours per year.

• Experience: Minimum 7 years in a branch banking environment (Required).
• Management: Minimum 5 years of branch management experience (Required).
• Expertise: Minimum 3 years managing complex business and consumer accounts.
• Leadership: Proven sales success with documented branch growth and team building.
