Role Description This on-site Journeyman Carpenter / Project Manager role is based in San Mateo, CA. The position combines hands-on carpentry with project management responsibilities, including planning daily work, coordinating with clients and subcontractors, and ensuring jobsite safety and compliance with project specifications. Day-to-day tasks include performing framing and finish carpentry, using power and hand tools, interpreting blueprints, and overseeing material procurement and scheduling.
The role also involves monitoring project progress, resolving on-site issues, documenting work, and maintaining clear communication with the project team and management.
Qualifications
- Strong carpentry skills with experience across residential and/or commercial construction.
- Proficiency with hand tools and safe, effective use of power tools.
- Hands-on experience with framing and structural carpentry.
- Skilled in finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, and detailed woodwork.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
- Demonstrated project management abilities, including scheduling, coordinating crews, and overseeing subcontractors.
- Commitment to jobsite safety, quality standards, and adherence to building codes.
- Effective communication and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Previous experience as a journeyman-level carpenter; supervisory or lead experience is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the San Mateo, CA jobsite.
