Join Guidewire as a Senior Software Engineer, Application Platform - AI Services, and be part of the team building our next-generation AI platform. This platform provides the essential tools to design AI agents, to connect to large language models, and manage the knowledge bases that power modern, intelligent insurance applications. You will be a key contributor on this platform, using AI coding tools to design and build core services that power developer experience, ensuring quality, scalability, and security.
This is a senior, onsite, full-time role based in the United States.
You will play an important role in delivering operational excellence and transformative innovation for Guidewire's Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization. Our priorities include accelerating AI, cloud, and data platform adoption, and ensuring our solutions deliver measurable value and efficiency for customers. Job Description
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of Guidewire's application platform, primarily focusing on backend services but with flexibility to occasionally work with infrastructure and frontend.
* Apply agentic coding tools as Guidewire uses them to dramatically accelerate development.
* Engineer for quality, scalability, availability, and security in every aspect of the platform.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations, supporting Guidewire's mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation.
* Support and mentor junior engineers, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Required Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with a solid track record in system design and building platform services.
* Experience with coding agents and automation tools.
* Strong proficiency in one of Java, JavaScript, Type Script, Python, with ability to adjust to other languages.
* Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases (vector DBs), AI agents, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
* Strong collaboration and communication skills.
* Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 - $222,000 . Your base pay will depend on your experience, skills, education, training, and location among other factors. All full-time positions or part-time roles working 30 hours or more a week at Guidewire are eligible for benefits that support their health and well-being including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and a company sponsored retirement plan.
In addition, some roles may be eligible for the annual company bonus plan, commissions, and/or long term incentive awards which are contingent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, company and employee performance.
