LocationWe are hiring for this role to be based in the United States or Canada. This is a remote role unless you fall within the following parameters. If you live within approximately 50 miles of our San Mateo, CA or Provo, UT office, the position follows a hybrid schedule with in‑office days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
AboutThe Role
We’re seeking a Design Engineer to bridge the gap between design and engineering at GC AI. In this role, you’ll help shape our design system implementation, architect front‑end solutions, and ensure seamless user experiences across our platform. You’ll be instrumental in creating intuitive interfaces that transform how legal professionals work, making sophisticated legal tasks feel simple and accessible.

As a Design Engineer, you’ll be crafting the visual systems and interactions that make sophisticated legal work feel simple and intuitive. Your work won’t just look good—it will fundamentally change how legal teams operate, making their work faster, smarter, and more impactful.
What You’ll Do- Architect and implement complex UI components and systems that balance aesthetics with technical performance.
- Lead the technical implementation and evolution of our design system across our marketing.
- Create prototypes to explore new interaction models and validate design concepts for legal workflows.
- Establish best practices for front‑end development and component architecture.
- Mentor engineers on design principles and implementation techniques.
- Develop tools and processes to improve design‑to‑development workflow.
- Contribute to design reviews.
- Champion accessible, responsive, and performant user interfaces for legal teams.
- Build marketing landing pages.
- Define the visual language and interaction patterns for AI‑native legal workflows so teams complete reviews faster and with more confidence.
- Turn ambiguous user pain points into elegant, production‑ready interfaces that measurably reduce time‑to‑answer and error rates.
- Establish a reusable design system that speeds up iteration across product, growth, and integrations surfaces.
- Partner with AI + product engineering to make complex model behavior legible through clear affordances, states, and explanations.
- 5+ years of experience in front‑end development with a strong design sensibility.
- Expert‑level knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript/Type Script, and React.
- Deep experience with modern front‑end frameworks (React preferred).
- Strong understanding of design systems and component‑based architecture.
- Experience implementing complex UI animations and interactions.
- Proven ability to translate design concepts into production‑ready code.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with both design and engineering teams.
- Experience with accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience with Framer.
- Understanding of legal tech or B2B SaaS.
