Senior Engineering Manager - Age Assurance; Accounts

What You’ll Do:

As an Senior Engineering Manager for the Age Assurance team, you will build industry leading vision and execution for scalable, adaptable and accurate age for every user on Roblox. You will sit at the intersection of high-scale distributed systems and machine learning, building the architecture that powers safe and age appropriate access and communication.

You will not only drive the technical roadmap but also shape the long-term vision for how Roblox will work with various age regulations, build innovative in-house age estimation techniques with evolving age‑fraud protection. This role is of high visibility, building greenfield projects (0->1) impacting every aspect of user experience globally. You will be working directly with a number of cross‑functional partners from Product teams, legal, vendors to protect the platform.

Specifically, your team will be responsible for the mission‑critical systems that handle:

• Building and deploying highly‑scalable age estimation ML models for both behavioral and facial age estimation.
• Creating scalable and privacy‑preserving infrastructure to accurately provide user age information across all of Roblox.
• Partnering with external vendors, internal leadership, and regulatory bodies in multiple countries to align on providing the leading age assurance mechanism for all age groups.
• Building advanced fraud protections against evolving age fraud adversaries including deepfakes, presentation attacks etc.

• Lead the Domain:
  Own the strategy and execution of the Age Assurance roadmap, ensuring reliable, scalable, and high‑accuracy systems.
• Manage Team Direction & Delivery:
  Oversee the daily execution of the engineering roadmap, ensuring the team efficiently delivers high‑quality, reliable code on time.
• Ensure Cross‑Functional

  Act as the primary engineering liaison, collaborating closely with Product Management, Finance, Legal/Compliance, and Risk teams to align on requirements, prioritize features, and ensure regulatory adherence.
• Define Architectural Strategy:
  Set the long‑term technical vision and architectural roadmap for the team and underlying services. Define and implement the engineering standards that ensure a consistently high quality bar across the group.
• Grow and cultivate an Impactful Team:
  Attract, hire, mentor, and coach top‑tier software engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous learning.

• 10+ years of hands‑on experience in software development, with a focus on building and operating highly scalable distributed systems
• 5+ years of direct experience managing and mentoring high‑performing engineering teams including managing ML engineers.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex technical trade‑offs and project status to technical peers, product managers, and executive leadership.
• A strong track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining exceptional engineering talent.
• Experience in the Identity domain: age assurance, compliance, vendor management, fraud detection is a big plus.
• Experience building and scaling distributed systems and real‑time fraud platforms at a global scale is a plus.

The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job‑related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Annual Salary Range

$345,040 — $399,420 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
