Software Engineer, Backend Developer

One of the world's most iconic gaming and entertainment companies is searching for a Software Engineer to join their Back End Machine Learning team onsite once per month in San Mateo, CA

This exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of backend engineering and machine learning begins as a 1-year W2 contract engagement based in San Mateo, CA offering competitive benefits and the potential to extend or convert to permanent employment.
Most work will be completed remotely
, but candidates must be able to attend meetings in the San Mateo office approximately once per month.

• Design, build, and maintain RESTful Web Service APIs and supporting algorithms
• Develop, train, test, and deploy machine learning models at scale
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with console, backend, and QA engineering teams to implement and validate new features
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues quickly to maintain high service availability
• Contribute to clear technical documentation, system diagrams, and internal knowledge bases
• Operate within an Agile/Scrum development methodology
• Explore and apply emerging technologies to deliver world‑class gaming experiences

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
• 4+ years of hands‑on design and programming experience in Java, Python, and/or Golang
• Proven experience building highly scalable, object‑oriented web server applications backed by No

• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or GCP
• Background in Machine Learning development and application
• Experience working with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensor Flow
• Familiarity with Dev Ops practices, containerization, and orchestration tools including Docker and Kubernetes

• Exposure to Computer Vision, Graphics, and/or Game Engine technologies
