Staff Accountant – part time – $30–$35/hour

We are seeking a Temporary Staff Accountant to provide essential part time accounting and payroll support to cover a leave of absence. You will enjoy a flexible schedule while ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and timely payroll processing for this mission-driven nonprofit organization.

Candidates with Sage Intacct experience encouraged to apply!

* Location:

On-site in San Rafael

* Schedule:

~20 hours/week; flexible (3 full days or 4–5 shorter days)
Staff Accountant Duties:
* Maintain and update accounting records and files.
* Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts.
* Prepare journal entries and monitor monthly accrual-based entries.
* Assist with month-end close activities and budget vs. actual monitoring.
* Assist CFO with all payroll tasks.
* Record payroll activity in the general ledger.
* Ensure timely payroll processing and respond to staff inquiries.

Staff Accountant

Qualifications:

* Experience with ADP Workforce and Sage Intacct highly preferred
* 3+ years of experience in accounting and payroll.
* Strong Excel skills
* Ability to work on-site
* Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus.
* High attention to detail, confidentiality, and ability to meet deadlines.
