Summary

The Grants and Compliance Manager (GCM) is responsible for effectively managing Marin City Health and Wellness Center’s (MCHWC) private funds and Fee for Service contracts, including new funding, reporting, invoicing, and management of deliverables and compliance with the purpose of sustaining and increasing funding, program resources, and impact. The GCM works closely with Write Choice Network, acting as a point of contact and liaison.

The position is responsible for all aspects of Institutional Giving and for growing its foundation base upwards from approximately $1.5M annually. Upon procurement, the GCM is responsible for monitoring grant and contract compliance including spending, deliverables, and other requirements to ensure that grantor relationships remain in good standing and as viable sources of sustainable support. The GCM oversees organization-wide evaluation efforts in order to demonstrate and increase program impact, organizational performance, and competitiveness for outcomes-based funding.

Responsibilities

Institutional Giving
  • Responsible for the workflow and effectiveness of the grant procurement process with private foundation, corporation, and select government grants including:
    • Strategic planning and goal setting
    • Prospect research and vetting
    • Funder cultivation and solicitation
    • Timeline and team management
    • Proposal, report, and materials development
    • Grant submission, follow-up, acknowledgment, and administration
  • Prepare and supervise the ongoing progress of multi‑million dollar grant proposals. Collaborate on grant concept, prepare drafts including executive summaries, propose modifications and ensure completion of all grants (budget changes, extensions, etc.); coordinate the submission of all grant reports and required documentation with team members by deadline dates.
  • Prepare and maintain grant records grant files, internal/external statistics; develop, maintain, and share a comprehensive annual grants calendar that establishes target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, transmittal, and reporting.
  • Follow proposal and reporting standards, including readability, consistency, and tone; create donor and proposal actions database to develop and track annual grants budget.
  • Recommend grant‑related policies to support overall organizational goals, priorities, and requirements, including compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Develop annual targets, strategies, and tactics while analyzing performance data to identify areas for improvement/growth.
  • Develop and codify best practices for meeting and exceeding high‑performance grant procurement targets.
  • Maintain an in‑depth knowledge of all programs, strategic plans, and growth gaps/opportunities in order to advise on potential new funding opportunities.
  • Maintain focus on pursuing new and well‑vetted opportunities, planned approaches, and solid execution to support a high rate of return on the organization’s efforts.
  • Develop and implement funder cultivation strategies and materials in order to build and grow a network of relationships that support institutional giving growth, and improve upon proposal, report, and supporting material templates.
  • Coordinate deadlines, timelines, and team management for new grant opportunities, while working closely with the Finance department to inform about new budget development; closely review all fiscal reports and materials.
  • Maintain a grant calendar of key dates for proposals; narrative, fiscal and data reports; and grantor/grantee meetings, and transparent grant files and tracking (electronic).
