Position Overview
Position is a PM/Underwriting role, inclusive of current and new customer calling and pitching. The PM will manage 7–10 primarily leads and some participations, while also managing the underwriting of new borrowers and helping train younger team members. The role involves decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions for BMO and is located in Chicago to support the market team.
Responsibilities- Oversee credit and legal documentation and ongoing monitoring of asset and client performance.
- Provide accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
- Prepare concise, well‑reasoned credit correspondence and coordinate preparation of lending proposals and pitches to prospective clients.
- Negotiate transactions with clients and provide deal structuring expertise.
- Manage workflow of other analysts by aligning tasks with departmental goals and objectives.
- Develop credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
- Assist in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e‑mail interaction with clients.
- Prepare summaries, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
- Establish cross‑selling initiatives to increase penetration with clients.
- Apply knowledge of bank products, processes and systems and troubleshoot to ensure a high‑quality client experience.
- Coordinate closing with closing department, clients and attorneys.
- Minimize BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.
- Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose and solve problems within given rules.
- Work independently and regularly handle non‑routine situations.
- Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
- Typically between 7+ years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.

Salary range: $122,400 – $228,000 per year. Salaries may vary based on location, skills, experience, education and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO’s expected target for the first year in this position.
