Job OverviewAnalyses credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing Commercial banking loans and credit solutions in an assigned portfolio of clients. Makes credit decisions and recommendations in compliance with bank policies and procedures while maintaining an exceptional client service environment. Performs financial analysis and calculations, assesses client creditworthiness, prepares detailed credit summaries, and analyzes financial performance and risk profiles of clients.
Utilizes financial models and analytical tools to assess client repayment capacity and recommend appropriate loan structures and collateral. Supports portfolio monitoring and compliance, identifies deteriorating credit conditions, and ensures alignment with risk appetite and regulatory standards.
- Support credit‑granting decisions by making recommendations to management.
- Negotiate loan terms and structure loans that align with client requirements and bank policies.
- Develop proposals to capture new business and expand client relationships in collaboration with Relationship Managers and other business partners.
- Build and maintain client relationships to ensure long‑term financial performance.
- Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans aligned with client needs and risk policies.
- Monitor portfolio performance continuously, taking corrective action when required.
- Minimize risk exposure by adhering to credit policies, regulatory standards, and operational guidelines.
- Serve as a point of contact for service requests, ensuring expectations are met or exceeded and escalating issues when needed.
- Identify revenue, cross‑selling, and share‑of‑wallet opportunities to enhance portfolio growth.
- Leverage analysis tools to nurture and grow a portfolio that exceeds ROE thresholds and evaluates client returns proactively.
- Manage timely and accurate data entry into BMO systems and use the data to support decision‑making.
- Work independently on a range of complex tasks, exercising judgment to diagnose and solve problems within established rules.
- Preferred 3–4 years of relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations within a corporate or banking environment.
- Approval to work in a Credit Qualifiable role, with knowledge and skills required by the credit portfolio qualification standards.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting preferred. Other related disciplines or commensurate work experience are considered. - Intermediary proficiency in problem solving, collaboration, attention to detail, analytical thinking, loan structuring, regulatory compliance, portfolio management, credit risk assessment, banking operations, and Microsoft Office.
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools and financial analysis.
Salary: $69,000.00 – $ (Salaried). Compensation may include performance‑based incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other perks.
