The Event Captain is responsible for training and directing the banquet staff in delivering all banquet activities in order to ensure a successful function and repeat business. This person will also assist the Event Manager in overseeing all operations, ensuring excellence in guest service and compliance with the company policies and procedures, all while maintaining productivity.
Compensation and Benefits$22.30 - $27.55 per hour, based on relevant experience to the role
401K with dollar for dollar match up to 4%.
Job Duties- Coordinates food service between kitchen and banquet service staff and ensures the timely delivery of all food
- Ensure the accuracy and cleanliness as set according to the Banquet Event Order of all rooms
- Monitors all beverage consumption and addresses issues brought forth by bartenders and service staff and adheres to all liquor laws
- Ensures the correct standards of pouring are being followed by all bartenders and servers to ensure accurate billing to the client
- Adheres to all hygiene procedures and grooming standards and ensures that all staff follows those same procedures
- Reviews and implements table and seating diagrams
- Control transfers & ordering, monitors all front‑of‑house inventory and assists with maintaining a par level of all items needed
- Completes closing inspection duties after all events and ensures that all areas are clean and set up for any future events
- Completes Daily Captain’s Report and ensures that all issues, both positive and negative, are brought to the attention of the Events Manager
- Manages inventory and operating materials and assists with monthly inventory of all front‑of‑house items
- 2 years working as a catering or events manager
- Food Handler certification and Responsible Beverage certified within 30 days
- Must have excellent command of the English language, written and spoken, bilingual preferred
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, team members, customers, and vendors
- Must be able to work flexible varying shifts of mornings or evenings along with weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work well in stressful, high‑pressure situations including the ability to handle guest and team complaints and disputes with tact and diplomacy, and resolve them to satisfactory results
