SUMMARY
The Bio Marin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within Bio Marin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks, our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION / PROJECTThe Intern will support key operational, documentation, reconciliation, and reporting activities across the Clinical Supply Chain (CSC) organization. This internship provides hands on exposure to clinical trial execution, supply chain operations, health authority documentation practices, contract and financial tracking, and the application of AI-enabled tools to streamline and enhance CSC processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Documentation Repository & eTMF Support
- Create and maintain a centralized repository for clinical program documentation, including eTMF-related records and outstanding filings.
- Retrieve required documents and proactively engage with partners such as GSO, Clinical Sites, and GEO teams to identify and obtain missing documentation.
- Support compliance and audit readiness by ensuring proper organization, version control, and completeness of document sets.
- CMO Contract Reconciliation & Dashboard Optimization
- Consolidate key terms, language, and obligations across CMO contracts to support CSC operational clarity.
- Reconcile contract spend, budgets, and actuals to ensure traceability and alignment with program activities.
- Support enhancements to existing dashboards or propose new visualization concepts to improve transparency and decision making.
- Investigational Product (IP) Reconciliation for Study Close Out
- Assist with IP lifecycle reconciliation, including review of manufactured, distributed, dosed, returned, and destroyed materials.
- Validate data across systems and documentation sets to ensure accuracy for end of study closeout packages.
- Enhancement of CSC Metrics & Reporting
- Evaluate current CSC metrics and reporting packages; identify opportunities for structure, content, or visualization improvements.
- Support creation of streamlined, standardized reporting templates.
- AI-Enabled Tool Development & Automation Concepts
- Explore potential AI-based reporting or automation tools to support documentation, reconciliation, and metrics processes.
- Contribute to prototypes that improve data collection, analysis, and visualization across the four key functional areas.
- Centralized document repository for CSC program materials with clear structure and versioning.
- Consolidated contract terms tracker and updated CMO reconciliation dashboard.
- IP reconciliation summaries supporting study close out.
- Refined CSC metrics framework with recommended enhancements.
- AI-enabled reporting or automation concepts, prototypes, or workflows.
- Final presentation summarizing findings, recommendations, and proposed next steps.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple data sources.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in reconciling information across systems or documents.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint or similar document management systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with cross-functional partners.
- Comfort reaching out to external/internal stakeholders to gather missing information.
- Interest in clinical supply chain operations, clinical trials, documentation systems (eTMF), and regulated environments.
- Knowledge of or interest in learning contract structures, spend tracking, and supply-related financial concepts.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization tools is a plus.
- Exposure to AI tools or automation concepts (prompt engineering, workflow design, NLP) is beneficial.
- Curiosity, proactive mindset, and interest in process improvement and digital enablement.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in supply chain, Business Operations, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources, or a related field.
