Job Summary
Bio Marin R&D IT team seeks a highly talented Dev Ops Engineer to support research and data sciences teams. The role involves evaluating, designing, developing, and maintaining computational infrastructure and platforms used for analytics pipelines, scientific research, and clinical data analysis.
Responsibilities- Facilitate delivery of computation platform resources to R&D using modern Dev Ops processes.
- Develop, implement, and document flexible, cloud platform solutions that promote user autonomy while meeting security and compliance standards.
- Identify and mitigate technical debt, fostering sustainable engineering practices.
- Manage the full system development lifecycle for data science and bioinformatics applications, ensuring design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
- Engage scientists to enable adoption of bioinformatics tools and optimize research efforts.
- 3+ years experience implementing and managing Linux-based systems, especially HPC environments.
- 3+ years experience scripting with Bash, Python, or Power Shell; developing automation and test-driven code.
- 3+ years designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud IaaS and PaaS services in Azure and/or AWS.
- Experience supporting genomics and bioinformatics teams, including data infrastructure and pipelines.
- Proficient with Git-based source control (Git Hub, Git Lab, Azure Repos).
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Git Lab CI/CD, Azure Pipelines).
- Experience with job schedulers such as SLURM, AWS Batch, and Azure Batch.
- Experience in Agile Scrum environments for project management.
- Strong communication skills for interfacing with stakeholders.
- Prioritization and quality focus with technical rigor.
- AWS or Azure certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Dev Ops Engineer Expert).
- Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, Cloud Formation, or ARM/Bicep.
- Cloud platform operations including cost optimization and security.
- Observability, monitoring, and dashboards for cloud platforms.
- GenAI infrastructure and tooling (Azure AI stack, Databricks, OpenAI).
- Custom GenAI solutions for biotechnology use cases.
- RAG-based systems using embeddings and LLMs.
- Interactive data science platforms (Databricks, Posit, DNAnexus, Seqera).
- Bioinformatics libraries (conda, CRAN, Bioconductor).
- Experience in a validated GxP environment.
- Pipeline engineering with Nextflow or Snakemake.
- Next-generation sequencing platforms (Pac Bio, Illumina).
Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience) plus three years of professional experience.
Benefits and CompensationSalary range: $112,000 to $154,000. Additional compensation may include discretionary annual bonus, stock-based long-term incentives (based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package including company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
