DeliveryExcellence – Release Management Lead Location
San Rafael, California (Hybrid role: 2–3 days per week onsite)
Role PurposeThe Release Management Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing software releases across multiple projects and environments within the SAP enterprise application landscape. This role ensures that releases are delivered on time, with quality, and in compliance with governance standards, while minimizing risk to business operations.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, coordinate, and manage software releases across multiple projects and environments.
- Ensure releases are delivered on time, with quality, and in compliance with governance standards.
- Minimize risk to business operations during release activities.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems (SAP preferred) and integration landscapes; experience with release management tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL, Agile, and Dev Ops principles; knowledge of change and transport management in SAP environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to lead cross‑functional teams under tight deadlines.
- 7+ years in IT delivery or release management roles; proven track record in managing complex enterprise releases.
Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field; ITIL Foundation or Release Management certification (preferred); SAP Solution Manager/ChaRM experience (preferred).
Key CompetenciesStrategic planning and execution; risk and issue management; strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to work in a global, matrixed environment.
Technical- Continuous improvement / operational excellence: understanding of continuous improvement / lean tools (Scrum, Yellow Belt, Git Lab, ALM, Service Now) essential for managing modern, automated releases.
- SDLC expertise: knowledge of the software development life cycle, including Waterfall, Agile, and Dev Ops methodologies and associated documentation best practices.
- Tools proficiency: familiarity with project management software (MS Project, JIRA, Planview), version control, testing tools, and infrastructure.
- Communication: ability to clearly articulate complex information and manage expectations across diverse teams and senior leadership.
- Leadership: capacity to motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and make final decisions on complex, release‑related issues.
- Problem‑solving: skill to quickly identify issues and devise effective solutions to keep software releases on track.
- Organization and attention to detail: meticulous planning and tracking of all release artifacts, dependencies and documentation.
