Position Overview

Credentialed Shipboard Welder at The Dutra Group. Non-supervisory, certified U.S. Coast Guard welder required to work aboard vessel, performing welding, brazing, cutting, fabrication, and metal working under direction of ship captain.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use various welding equipment and materials to repair or fabricate metal structures such as ship hull, piping, pumps, winches, motors, shafts, weirs, and superstructures.
  • Read simple plans, schematics, or blueprints and use measurement tools (squares, levels, tapes, electronic gauges) to fabricate or repair with precision.
  • Work with gas or electrical equipment and weld materials including steel, aluminum, and other metals.
  • Perform designated security duties as part of deck crew.
  • Work 28‑day tours with 2 paid travel days and 26 days off.
  • Cooperate with deck team to meet project goals and deliverables.
Qualifications
  • Ordinary Seaman Merchant Marine Credential with current U.S. Coast Guard medical certificate.
  • Security awareness training as part of deck crew.
  • Effective communication and understanding of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Physical presence on ship and ability to work outside in challenging elements (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind).
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform required physical activities (stand, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb pilot ladder).

Compensation and Benefits

Pay Rate: $505.77 per day. Competitive daily rates and generous benefits, including living and working conditions aboard vessel.
