Contract Role expected to go through 6/2027; 5 days per week onsite in San Rafael.

We are seeking to hire a Research Associate for our Analytical Pathology team within the neuroscience group. This position is for a highly motivated, detail‑oriented individual committed to providing quality laboratory results in a timely and efficient manner. The individual will be part of a team with a strong focus on neurobiology that evaluates disease pathogenesis, therapeutic efficacy and drug distribution using microscopy and other technologies for a variety of pre‑clinical research and early developmental projects.

• Design of histology experiments
• Perform histological stains, IHC/IF, and ISH on tissue from multiple species utilizing both manual and automated platforms
• Slide imaging, light and fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy
• Image quantification and analysis
• Develop and implement new assays, functionality, and technology for project needs
• Maintain experimental records using an electronic lab notebook and communicate results
• Maintain an organized and efficient laboratory
• Present results to key stakeholders such as project teams

• Knowledge of neurobiology and neuroanatomy
• Experience with routine histology
• Experience performing immunohistochemistry by manual and/or automated methods
• Programming skills a plus
• Familiarity with multiple imaging modalities such as epifluorescence microscopy, slide scanners, and confocal
• Proficiency with histological image analysis and statistical analysis
• Experience with digital image quantification
• Ability to work well in a fast‑paced, dynamic, team‑oriented environment
• Ability to design own experiments, propose data interpretation and recommendation
• Committed to overcoming challenges and using own initiative/judgement to troubleshoot
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to present at group and team meetings
• Proficient in basic IT skills including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
