Social Worker – Marin County

Starting Salary:
Bachelor's Degree: $58,083 - $69,700
Master's Degree: $64,008 - $76,810

Where will I work?

This role offers a hybrid schedule giving you the opportunity to work in clients' homes in Marin County, from our San Rafael office, or from the comfort of your own home.

What You’ll Do

Under the direction of the designated Supervising Social Worker, this position uses Person Centered practices to assess the needs of developmentally disabled individuals and their families, develops and implements the Individual Program Plan (IPP), and coordinates associated services.

This position manages a wide range of active cases requiring professional social work skills, including creative planning to seek and acquire services. It involves meeting clients at their residence or in the community to design and develop the IPP, then implementing, monitoring and revising the program plan, assessing needs, identifying barriers to developmental objectives, initiating and terminating regional center funding, and ensuring purchased services are provided.

Additional responsibilities include preparing required reports and documentation in a timely and accurate manner, maintaining records in compliance with federal and state requirements, acting as an advocate with individuals and families to assure receipt of entitled services and client rights, encouraging participation in coordinating resources, initiating referrals and monitoring progress of vendor services, identifying community service gaps, providing intake or outreach services as assigned, and participating in internal and community committees.

Requirements
  • Knowledge of principles, objectives, and techniques of counseling individuals.
  • Knowledge of normal and abnormal individual and group behavior, human growth and development, and family relationships.
  • Knowledge of community structure and organization and how to intervene constructively on behalf of individuals.
  • Knowledge in identifying and navigating generic services, counseling techniques, and typical and atypical child development behavior.
  • Ability to interview skillfully.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to stimulate cooperation of individuals, families, and community agencies.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Ability to maintain clear and concise case records.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school (social welfare or related human services field preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrated interest in working with persons with developmental special needs.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
