Job Description

Industrial Hygiene Project Manager – responsible for managing and conducting hazardous materials surveys and sampling, overseeing remediation, and preparing and reviewing related documentation and reports.

Core Responsibilities
  • Supports senior Industrial Hygienists and Practice Team Managers on complex building science and industrial hygiene (IH) and safety assessments, contributing to project execution and technical problem-solving
  • Assists with preparation and collection of environmental samples and field data, including equipment setup, calibration checks, and detailed documentation of site conditions and observations
  • Reviews prior building science and IH surveys to determine gaps, recommend additional sampling, and help define project scope and service approach
  • Performs independent field assessments on well‑defined issues, identifies hazards, and may coordinate or direct team members by assigning tasks based on experience and skill level
  • Collects environmental and personal exposure samples (e.g., air, noise), prepares samples for laboratory analysis, and ensures proper chain‑of‑custody and shipping procedures
  • Maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and operates a range of IH and building science instruments to ensure accurate and reliable data collection
  • Compiles, organizes, and analyzes field and laboratory data; prepares summaries and drafts technical reports with clear findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations; reviews and signs off on final reports
  • Supports workplace health and safety programs by implementing IH strategies, conducting compliance monitoring (air, noise, and other hazards), contributing to safety training, and assisting in incident investigations with root cause analysis and corrective action recommendations

  • Required certifications: DOSH Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and CDPH Lead Inspector/Assessor
  • A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent field experience) in project planning, environmental science, engineering, construction, architecture, industrial hygiene, occupational health, or a related field
  • 5+ years of technically sound consulting experience managing Industrial Hygiene and Building Science projects
  • Hands‑on experience conducting asbestos, lead, and mold surveys, along with exposure and noise monitoring
  • Ability to meet field demands, including wearing PPE, climbing ladders/stairs, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Flexibility and reliability to travel up to 50% across Northern California with dependable transportation
  • Strong project and personnel management skills, with proficiency in Microsoft tools and digital systems
  • Clear communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage files, documentation, grammar, and punctuation
