Cyber Security Intern | SOC & MDR Strategy
Location: Bay Area, CA (Hybrid/Remote)
Duration: 3 Months (Conversion Potential)
We are looking for a Technical Intern to help us refine and scale our Managed Detection & Response (MDR) offerings. This role is designed for someone who is technically curious but also interested in the Pre-Sales and Client Relationship aspects of cybersecurity.
You won’t just be looking at alerts; you’ll be helping us build the frameworks that allow us to communicate security value to our customers and ensure our SOC is delivering world-class protection.
Over the course of 3 months, you will:
- MDR Strategy:
Assist in mapping threat actor behaviors (MITRE ATT&CK) to specific detection requirements that address common customer security gaps. - Pre-Sales Engineering Support:
Help develop technical documentation and “Future State” SOC architectures to help prospective clients understand the value of a modern, cloud-native migration. - Customer Relationship Enablement:
Work on standardizing playbooks and reporting templates that make complex security data “human-readable” for our clients. - Technical Research:
Conduct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) on log ingestion and normalization (UDM) to improve our detection accuracy across diverse customer environments. - Concepts: SIEM/SOAR Architecture, Managed Detection & Response (MDR) workflows, and the Security Sales Lifecycle.
- Ecosystem:
Next-gen SOC platforms (Google Sec Ops/Chronicle), Threat Intelligence, and Cloud Security (GCP/AWS). - Skills:
Technical writing, process mapping, and basic scripting (Python/Bash) for data parsing.
- The Solution-Seeker:
You’re a student or recent grad who loves solving technical puzzles but also enjoys explaining the “Why” to others. - Customer-Centric:
You understand that security is a service. You take pride in making sure the documentation and alerts we produce are clear, actionable, and valuable. - The Documentarian:
You have a knack for taking complex technical workflows and turning them into professional guides or whitepapers. - Log Literate:
You aren’t afraid to dive into JSON or Syslog to find the “needle in the haystack.”
