Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner will provide medical evaluation and treatment to John Muir Health patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. They will perform duties according to standardized procedures developed collaboratively with the medical staff, nursing, and advanced practice providers. The NP possesses skills in physical diagnosis, psycho‑social assessment, and management of health and illness needs.
Responsibilities- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients; provide information on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Provide counseling to patients.
- Maintain collegial relationships with physicians and surgeons across a variety of settings.
- Document medical records, patient messaging, and other required documentation.
- Do not perform invasive procedures or assist in surgery in the operating room.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (MSN or DNP) – required.
- Minimum 2 years healthcare experience in specialty – required.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in California – required.
- Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in California – required.
- NP‑F Registered Nurse Practitioner license – required.
- FNP Family Nurse Practitioner certification from ANCC – required (or equivalent NP clinical license through ANCC or AANP).
- DEA registration – required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required.
- Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – preferred depending on surgical specialty.
Appointed as an APP to support the South Region offices in San Ramon and Pleasanton.
Work Location & ScheduleSouth Region offices:
San Ramon and Pleasanton.
Shift: 08:00 – 17:00 (Monday‑Friday). Scheduled 40 hours per week. Positions listed as hourly are exempt for compensation purposes.
CompensationHourly pay range: $94.86 – $142.30 per hour, based on experience, licensure, and local market conditions.
